Online Lessons Starting in January 2024

Hello everyone. Thank you for reading this article. I’m Shogo, the manager of this website and the interpreter/instructor at Yushikan Kyoto’s Samurai Training Activity/Yushin Ryu Online Lessons.

We are pleased to announce that we will start “Online lessons for Yushin-Ryu” in January 2024 (The tiers will be available to sign up on January 5th, 2024). It has been our goal for a long time to start online lessons, and we are very happy to be able to train with you finally. Q: When will the lessons be held?

Every Friday from 10:00 pm to 11:00 pm JST and Sunday from 9:00 pm to 10:00 pm JST (some weeks may be irregular), you can take part in the Zoom lessons of Yushin Ryu Katana Skills from the Dojo chief, Seto Yushin Sensei. No previous martial arts experience is required; you are always free to join.

Q: How are the lessons held?

The link and password for the Zoom meeting will be shared through the membership-limited posts on Patreon every week
Use the link and password to join the online lessons on Friday from 10:00 to 11:00 P.M. JST/ Sunday from 9:00 to 10:00 P.M. JST
The archived video of each lesson will be posted on Patreon ASAP

Q: What can the students train?

・Basic Iai techniques (katana bowing, drawing and sheathing, swinging, etc.)
・Iai Kata of Yushin Ryu Katana Skills (approximately 100 Kata)
・(Kenjutsu and Shizan mat cutting skills can be trained at the annual training camps held in Japan)

Q: What do I need to start training?

・Uchi-katana and Wakizashi Iaitō (Type* Daishō Set) OR Bokutō with sheath
・Training Gear (Dōgi, Hakama, and Obi)
(Recommended shop to buy necessary equipment: One of Japan’s best Budo goods-producing companies, Tozando)
*However, at first, you can start if you at least have the Iaitō and Obi
